Second Services and Whispers from God

Since the beginning of Restoration Community Church we have tried to lean not on our own understanding and seek direction from God. We frankly have made many decisions that have taken us in the opposite direction of church "best practices." There is nothing wrong with best practices, but when they collide with God's voice then we have to make a choice. When God told Israel to march around Jericho that was not exactly a military "best practice," but God showed up and Israel saw him do the spectacular.

This last week, as a church, we sought God's will regarding the starting of a second service on March 1. If we want to reach more un-churched, de-churched people this would be the thing to do with Easter quickly approaching and then summer after that. God has led us to do otherwise. I started sensing God whispering to me about this last week. The whisper grew stronger while skiing last Friday. It grew louder still on Sunday at our town hall meeting. I know we made the right decision - for the time being. God has spoken.

The hard thing about whispers is that they require trust. I believe this is why I often have ignored them. But every time I have closed my ears it has led to regrets and every time I have listened and obeyed it has led to a spiritual adventure that has left me closer to God and dazzled by his wisdom.

This week at Restoration we will talk about how to hear the still, small voice of God.

Listen, maybe God is encouraging you to join us.
